What are the responsibilities of your role?

I'm responsible for the operational running of TfL's HR Shared Service Centre, which comprises 280 employees and looks after 12,000 customers. Service standards and measures, financial arrangements and headcount governance all fall into my remit. I strategically drive change across the operation in a structured way using my Prince2 and MSP qualifications.

What do you like best about working for TfL?

Knowing I help to literally keep London moving every day.

What is the next big thing in HR?

HR outsourcing, starting with HR administration.

What is your biggest HR challenge?

Making a split HR service work as one fully aligned department across the organisation.

What frustrates you the most in HR?

Having to keep justifying HR's existence and value-add.

What can't you work without?

Despite all the systems and documents available, the knowledge and understanding I have of my internal and external customers is the real key to my performance.

What could you work without?

SLAs.

To "wallpaper a meeting".

Professional poker player.

What is the greatest risk you have ever taken?

Personally, moonlight snowboarding in the Swiss Alps. Professionally, joining a start-up business.

Fair, determined, straightforward.

How do you fill your leisure time?

Trying to reduce my golf handicap to single figures.

What is your worst habit?

Impatience.

What can't you live without?

Red Bull in the mornings.

What is your favourite film?

The Longest Yard.

If you were a superhero, who would you be?

I'd be a combination of Superman, Batman, Spiderman and Bananaman. As long as I could choose their powers according to the situation and don't look like Bananaman, it's a perfect arrangement.
