The Selection Process
There are four stages to our selection process; each one is designed to help us understand if you are right for PPS, and also importantly, if we are the right organisation for you.

In order to apply to the PPS Industrial Placement Scheme, you will need to complete the online application form. Check out our blog about the common mistakes made on CVs and application forms.
The form contains a mixture of general and competency based questions, along with sections for you to share your academic information and qualifications with us.
Read through the form carefully and follow the guidelines for answering each question complete all sections of the form. This is your chance to showcase your skills and make a good first impression. Back your answers with evidence and examples these can come from any part of your life work, academic activities, societies you are a member of, sports, training schemes, voluntary work etc. At each stage of the process, remember to research PPS.
You can print the form to make a draft copy first alternatively; you can save your form at any point and return to complete it at any time before the deadline. Before you submit, please check your form for any spelling or grammatical errors.

If successful at the screening stage, you will be invited to a telephone interview this is an important part of our selection process. Check out our blog on the benefits of telephone interviews.
We will want to ask you about your motivation for the role you have applied for and about PPS as well as some competency-based questions.
It is essential that you prepare for this as you would if it was a face-to-face interview. The job advert and our website should provide ample information on the type of candidate we are looking for. Refer back to these when you start thinking about how you could demonstrate that you fit the bill.
As with our application form, aim to provide a different example for each competence we want to get to know you outside of just your studies or just your extra-curricular activities. Remember to focus on YOUR personal contribution too we want to know what your role was, how you felt and what you learnt.

The first-round interview will take place at our office in Friars Gate, Solihull. This is an opportunity for you to familiarise yourself with our surroundings and understand what we do first-hand.

The final stage of our selection process involves the opportunity to meet with one of our Directorss. As a continuation to the first-round interview, the basis of this interview will revolve around you as an individual your motivations, your goals and what makes you tick.
